We are thrilled to launch the application information for the 5th Moscow International Violin David Oistrakh Competition. The 5th Competition is going to be held in 21-30 September, 2013. All indicated documents for the Competition must be received to Organizing Committee by mail or e-mail not later than the 31st of May, 2013.

5th Moscow International Violin David Oistrakh Competition is one of the most significant events in the Moscow musical life. Participants from more than 15 countries will compete in two age groups: Junior (10-16 y.o.) and Senior (17-28 y.o.). Besides the special prizes and prize amounts (the highest prize of the Senior group is 15000 Euro), winners will get the opportunity to perform on the best stages of Russia and Europe. The chairman of the jury is the People's Artist of the USSR, Professor of the Royal Conservatory in Brussels, a permanent member of the jury of the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Belgium – Igor Oistrakh.

Stages for competition auditions will be a concert venues of the Central Music School by the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory. Final round of the senior category, the award ceremony and winner’s concert will be held on September 30 at the Great Hall (Bolshoy Hall) of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory.

Masters of the contemporary performing arts – Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Igor Oistrakh – will be awarded prizes for the finalists. This year the total prize amount is 40,000 Euros. Besides the prizes winners will get a lot of special prizes, established by sponsors and partners of the Charity Oistrakh Fund, and the European Association of International Competitions for Youth (EMCY).

The culmination of the evening will be the winners concert. The violinists of the Junior category will perform solo works, and the winners in the Senior category will perform with a symphony orchestra. The experience of the previous competitions shows that it is a cultural event, whose main goal is the active support of young talented musicians and increasing the authority of the Russian school of classical music abroad, has a wide public response. According to the organizers, ten days of the competition tours and concerts will be able to visit more than five thousand people, and the audience webcast will be about 30,000 people.
